The Global Scholars Program cohort trip features a three-week homestay in Brussels, while studying at the AU Brussels Center. Homestay families are chosen through a rigorous selective process conducted by the AU Brussels staff. Anneli T. Sanchez, Class of 2021, shared with us a bit about her homestay experience this summer:
Adriana, my homestay mom while in Brussels this summer, definitely made my stay the best ever. She is originally from Argentina and moved to Brussels when she was about our age, which for me as a Puerto Rican living in the States, could not sound more interesting. The best thing about Adriana is her ability to soak everything in; she knows French, Spanish, English & Flemish, she's a master in the kitchen & she's the sweetest, most attentive & exciting person I have ever met. We had a similar taste in music and quite a similar taste in food so we exchanged our traditional childhood recipes before each saying our goodbyes, and now, while in Puerto Rico, I get to make them for my friends and family.
