What My Living Learning Community Means to Me

Updated: Jul 30, 2019

The Global Scholars Program is proud of be a Living Learning Community (LLC). Our first-year students live together on one residence hall floor. They live with first-year students in two other LLCs- Public Health Scholars and Politics, Policy, and Law (PPL) Scholars. Hear from Sophia Rossetti, Global Scholar ‘21, and Kennedy Andara, PPL ‘21, about their experiences being a part of our joint LLC program:

Sophia: “Coming into college, I was most anxious about finding that forever friend group that everyone always talks about. After move-in day, though, I knew I had found my people - and even better, they all lived next door!! Living on Letts 6 with all three of the 3-year programs was such a key part in my freshman year experience being amazing! I had all my best friends right next door, and there was always someone that I could ask for help on an assignment, no matter what time of day it was. Our programs are so unique, it’s nice to be surrounded by people that you can share the experiences with. Especially with the differences between the three programs, there’s always someone that knows something about a concept that you’re struggling with, and everyone’s always willing to help out! The floor dynamic is so encouraging, and seeing all your friends and classmates grow in their academic and professional careers is so inspiring!! I’m so grateful to have friends like Kennedy that push me academically, and I’m so grateful to have had such a unique freshman year experience on letts 6!!”

Kennedy: “Living in the Three-Year Scholars’s LLC has been a great opportunity to connect with students outside of your major who are on a very similar track in their academic careers. There’s something comforting about knowing that your floor contains a group of people all in this weird limbo timeline going through it together. I’ve loved connecting with the global scholars class because they encourage me to view policy from a broader and intersectional perspective. My neighbors have turned into my bestest friends. They are driven, passionate, and inspiring folks who make the three-year programs vibrant.”
